Sonam Wangchuk Begins Indefinite Hunger Strike at Jantar Mantar, Demands Resignation of Union Education Minister Over Examination Irregularities
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has launched an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar alongside student activists, demanding education reforms, protection of Ladakh’s environment, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, including the NEET paper leak, amid viral social media allegations.
Wangchuk commenced the indefinite fast alongside six members of the All India Students’ Association, with the protesters accusing the Union Education Minister of failing to address alleged examination irregularities, including the reported NEET paper leak. The demonstration called for comprehensive reforms in the education system while also highlighting concerns regarding the protection of Ladakh’s fragile environment.
The protest has drawn significant public attention as demonstrators continue to press for accountability and institutional reforms. The participants have maintained that their demands focus on ensuring transparency in the examination process and safeguarding environmental interests in Ladakh.
Meanwhile, several videos circulating on social media have gone viral, alleging that Wangchuk was hiding juice or drinking from a flask during the hunger strike. The claims have generated widespread discussion online even as the protest continues at Jantar Mantar.
The indefinite hunger strike has emerged as a focal point of national attention, combining demands for educational accountability, environmental protection, and political responsibility while placing renewed scrutiny on alleged examination irregularities and the response of the Union Government.
